Oshogbo, Osun State capital, wore a festive look Tuesday, (25 October), when colourfully dressed young men and women took over some major roads in the ancient town in a majestic 11-kilometre walk. It was reminiscent only of the Osun Oshogbo festival period. But this time, it was for the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The State Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola led the 11-kilometer walk for his party and its Presidential flag bearers.
The elated governor stated later “this morning, I led thousands of stalwarts of our great party, the APC in Osun on a solidarity walk of 11km round through major streets of the metropolis in support of the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.
According to him the walk was a means of reciprocating the kind gestures of Asiwaju and to express our support as a State for his presidential ambition.
He added that “at this critical time in the history of our nation, there is no room for experiment on the choice of our next president, and considering Tinubu’s political pedigree and antecedents, he is no doubt, the best man for the job”.
He believed that “Asiwaju is a pathfinder and leader per excellence. He is not only a problem solver, he is a genius, a roadmap designer and implementor who out of little or nothing, turned around the socioeconomic fortunes of Lagos State.
The governor led the State, to declare its “unalloyed support for Asiwaju and his candidature because we know that he is the only candidate that is fully prepared with workable action plan to turn around the fortunes of our dear nation and build a virile economy that we can all be proud of. Additionally, he is the only man that has the required capacity and political wherewithal to reposition the country.
He thanked the people who took out time to participate in the walk. According to him “it shows that we are truly ready for the growth and development we desire as a country”.
He urged those who are yet to collect their permanent voters’ cards to ensure they do so, as another window has been made available for collection.
